The Other Side of the Camera

A few days ago my friend and awesome photographer Ken Yetter of Yetter Photography was pointing his camera at me!  I always feel more comfortable taking pictures than having them taken of me, but I'm  so thankful for such awesome photos.
Thank you Ken!

The above one is my favorite. What's yours?
What maybe hard to see in this photo was that it was snowing. Folks we're talking about 32 degrees here, it was COLD!! But I look hot! LOL
Kristi is the best VAL (Voice Activated Lightstand) around.  She's also an incredible daughter! I often tease Kristi that when we do a photo shoot, that she can count that as PE (weight lifting) and Art Class for our home school. Believe me folks, that light and stand is HEAVY!!
Thank you Kristi for all your help, and thanks Ken for capturing her beautiful smile.
I asked Ken to get some pictures of me "in action" of course I had the cutest model around!! See below for the photo I took.
Me and one of my Alien Bees.  Love these lights!

Ok, I really like hats, but it's hard to find one big enough for my big head! LOL!

I really like this one too, some how it says "Kelley's Camera" to me. Thanks Ken again, for capturing who I am.  Now if I can only figure out how to take off those 40 extra pounds in a photo!
The above picture of Kristi, I took, while Ken was shooting my "action shots" I really was doing it, and I thought I'd share this great shot of Kristi.
The man in action! Yah, we're both camera nuts. Thanks again Ken, for all the photos, and all your help and encouragement to me in photography.

Baby Tennessee

I had the awesome opportunity to spend some time with the little one and her mommy and big brother today.  How precious those tiny ones are!
She's just a little angel!

We really wanted to get those sleeping baby poses, but she had other ideas today. But she did fall asleep for about 10 minutes and we got a few pictures in then.

After her little nap we even got some smiles out of her.
Thank you Tennessee for a fun time. Keep being the sweetie that you are!

True turns Three

Happiest 3rd birthday to sweet little True.  She's a bundle of energy and made the shoot so much fun.

True really wanted to sit on the blue chair. These are 4 old chairs that have been hanging in  my mom and dad's basement since I was True's age. My cousins and I use to sit around the old coffee table on holidays seated on these chairs.  I painted them up, and I think they turned out really cute.
This is the third year we've been able to do the "pumpkin' pictures for True on her birthday.  Though we had to move indoors this year.

This is a lovely old chair that True's mommy had, and we've taken a shot every year with her sitting in it.  A true princess chair.

I asked Tracie to bring True's TuTu along, and I'm so glad I did. These TuTu pictures turned out so cute.

She got up on her toes to her mom and my surprise.  I barely got the shot, cause I wasn't ready for it. But I love it!

 Oh yah! Princess True!
 Dancin' a princess dance.

Somehow I want to say, "Step through the wardrobe..."  I know it's not Narnia, but stepping into play land of a child is just as magical.
Have a very Happy Birthday True!!

October Sunrise

Lately I've really been enjoying seeing some pictures that an acquaintance of mine has been posting of his beautiful scenery in the Bitterroot Valley in Montana.  I know we don't have any gorgeous mountains here in North Dakota (our faith already removed them :-), but there's something so beautiful about a North Dakota Sunrise or Sunset that just outshines many other things.
So good morning North Dakota!!

Pretty awesome to step out on your deck and see this!

Swim Meet at MHS

Tonight I attended my first ever swim meet to watch my cousin Rachel Ford swim.  Her mom and I are 1st cousins so I guess that makes us 1st cousins once removed. Right Trissa?  It was really interesting watching and learning a little about the sport of swimming.  Rachel is an awesome swimmer!!  Tonight she took 1st place in the IM and 2nd in the freestyle, missing the 1st by like a hundredth of second or something like that. It was really close anyway.
I've never tried to shoot pictures of swimming before, so they're not super great.
I think next time, I'll try a little faster shutter speed. But it still was a lot of fun to watch.
Rachel is in lane 4 in the above picture. This is the IM which she took 1st in.

Checking her score. She won by a lot!

Rachel has a really fast start. She's mid air and the other girls haven't even left the block yet.
She hits the water before everyone else.

 In Lane 5 here.

You can really see how much she is ahead at the start here.
She spots us in the crowd.  Next to  Rachel is her mom, my cousin Trissa.
