More River pictures from June 13, 2011

Here's a few more river/flood pictures from Monday. These first few are looking over the bank at Mom and Dad's.
Same shot as last week, but as you can see, there is no more brick to be seen around the mail box. Water is rising.

 Looking towards Morks
Saw this man, heading towards his house with a couple of tanks of gas. All the power has been turned off on these houses. I believe he has a generator running, I'm thinking it's for his sub pumps.
If you look closely, you can see him entering his garage with the boat.
(above) This was shot from the Mandan Indian Village on the Bismarck Side. Looking to the north
It's kind of dark, as a cloud passed over, but you can see the MANDAN crying hill.

Pano of the Big Muddy Missouri

During my class at BSC last night we went up to the Mandan Indian Village (on the Bismarck side of the River) and shot pictures to do a Panorama. Here's what I shot. This was shot hand held, as I forgot my tripod in my car back at the college. It turned out pretty good for hand held I think.
The flooding is amazing and oh so sad.  That river is cruzin' too. I believe it's something like flowing at 12 miles an hour!!! Whew!

Rivers Risin' From June 5th

These were shot last week Sunday June 5th.  I know the river is up since then, but this was the last time I saw the river.   I want you all to know, I did my job in helping with evacuation. 6 ticks hitched a ride on me to higher ground. Ugh!
This is part of Dad's hay field under water.

Dad said he's been using this mail box as a "water gauge".  You can see the pile of sand they were using to sand bag in the culdesac circle.
This is Dad's other hay field on the other side of these trees.  North side of the Square Butte Creek.

This young man was out shooting carp with a bow and arrow (harpoon style). I didn't realize carp get this big! Oh my.
Don't think this will be needed this summer.  They already had this field planted to corn. What a loss.
So sad! Way too many roads looking like this.
Don't think you could hunt or trespass. Maybe go swimming though.  Will they deliver mail?

He leads me beside still waters

I'm taking a photography class at BSC, and this weeks assignment was to spell out a word.
My word was peaceful.  Here's my interpretation of Peaceful.
Another beautiful North Dakota Sunset and my beautiful daughter.
And what is more peaceful than the Word of God, next to some water and a beautiful sunset?
It sure said Peaceful to me.
Hope you like it.
On the funny side of this picture.  Kristi and I got to the location, and was getting out the gear to set everything up when I realized I forgot my camera!! Had to laugh. Good thing I was only a couple of miles from the house.  It reminded me of all those rodeos we went to and always seemed to forget something, but at least we never forgot the horse.  (saddle, ropes, reins, halters, yes, but we always remembered the horse!)
