Todd and I went to Belfield today, and on the way home we stopped at the Richardton Abby. All these years I've lived in North Dakota, I've never seen the Abby. Wow, quite the building! We went inside and I just had to sing the Lord's prayer while standing there admiring the building. What acoustics! Just as I finished, a priest walked in. Oh I hope I didn't do something wrong.
Richardton Abby on a beautiful ND sunny day!! 50 degrees out!! on Feb 2! That's amazing.
I snapped this picture of the reflection on the fountain, if you look close the priest was just walking in the room. I hope it's not illegal to take a picture. This is my favorite picture of the Day!!!!! by the way all I had with me was my little Sony Point and shoot, not bad for a P&S.
Kelley - This was the last stop on my route before heading home on Wednesday afternoons when I was working for US Foodservice. I loved going out there. The view from the dining room is awesome. One time when I-94 was closed I had a few hours to spend there and Brother Alban gave me a tour of the facility. I was absolutely amazed at the beauty. It is a 'must see' for anyone traveling through Richardton. Lucky you! By the way, did you know that there is a priest that is buried under the floor in the entryway??
ReplyDeleteOh my Robyn I didn't know about the buried priest. I really don't know much history about the Abby, as this was the first time I've ever seen it. Would love to have seen more. Singing in there was glorious. The acoustics are incredible.
